SOUTHDOGROCK - Gleichsein and Dreamer

SOUTHDOGROCK is a music project from vocalist, lyricist, saxophonist and keyboardist Florian Döppert and his partner, producer Frank Schultz. This Southern Germany-based experience has been one of our favorites over the last few years and we are excited to check out a few more tracks. Today we are here to listen to two of SOUTHDOGROCK’s latest songs, “Gleichsein” and “Dreamer”!

“Gleichsein” comes in over seven minutes in length and provides quite an enchanting listening experience throughout its duration. From the opening notes, the instrumental will have you sucked in with an air of mystique, taking a progressive and nearly psychedelic sound that eventually erupts in the latter third of the song. The lyrics are, naturally, in German and the subjects within include integration, migration and tolerance; the first half of the song features spoken-word vocals while the second half progresses into some powerful singing that breathes a lot of life into things. “Dreamer” is the second song we listened to and it sounds like something taken directly from contemporary radio. Combining a funky-feeling rhythm section with more Pop-oriented guitars, this song absolute bounces and brims with energy - long story short, it will make you want to get up and move. The lyrics are largely in English this time and I believe the words pair incredibly well with the music here, providing a meaningful and airy backdrop that is sure to stick with you long after the first time you listen. I really enjoy this one, both in a subjective and objective way. Listen here and check out the lyric video below:

I am grateful that SOUTHDOGROCK continues to share their music with us and I think that these two songs are great, meaningful additions to their catalog. Make sure you keep up with SOUTHDOGROCK through their Instagram and website and if you did not listen as you read through this article, be sure to take a listen to both “Gleichsein” and “Dreamer” and send SOUTHDOGROCK some love!
