AMADOUR is a talented singer/songwriter originally from Sparks, Nevada. An undeniably accomplished artist inspired by the Golden Era of 60s pop acts, AMADOUR’s smooth voice and masterful piano transform into a unique and memorable sound. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on AMADOUR’s debut EP, Western Movie Dream!
Western Movie Dream kicks off with “Before Grapes Ripen,” a whimsical piano ballad that will make you feel the complexities of young love amongst the backdrop of “clouds on cursive pages.” The jazz-inspired swagger you will experience within this song is indicative of AMADOUR’s signature style. At the same time, the lyrics are an arresting, emotive experience drenched in passion. I do not want to tease too much about how the track ends, but wow - you will luxuriate in this one.
The bewitching, albeit brief, spoken word “Velvet Sky - Poem Pt.1” follows and ingrains itself deep within you with poetry that echoes the Nevada desert and the Wild West. This song is a stunning discovery reminiscent of compositions by Lana Del Rey.
Next is “Two Hands Holding Me,” the third track from Western Movie Dream, and the Billy Joel influences are peering through; the sound of a New York Piano Club meeting Vintage Hollywood. It is hard to express just how much I love the lyrics to this song, and AMADOUR sells how effortlessly the feelings they incorporate flow. “Wild Mustangs - Poem Pt. 2” is a tangible, artistic reminder of a walk in the desert through wildlife and open skies. The brief piece will surely stick with you. Closing out the EP is the title track, “Western Movie Dream,” which is heartfelt, honest, and captivating. This song presents the emotions of this EP, spellbinding and essential; this one shows AMADOUR’s writing and execution in their prime.
