Apricity - The Fear

Apricity is an Alternative Rock artist originally from Scotland but currently based in Canada where she moved as a child. An entertainer from a young age, Apricity competed in pageants, auditioned for Top of the Pops and appeared on children’s shows before finding her niche in musical theater. Today we take a listen to Apricity’s sophomore single release, “The Fear”.

“The Fear” is a gloomy alternative rock track that contains a certain thickness to the atmospheric vibes it presents. Lyrically, the track delves into feelings of uncertainty and, of course, fear. The instrumental portion of the track matches the lyrics perfectly; while listening to “The Fear”, I found myself imagining that I was walking through a dark forest trying to navigate my way through my doubts. This kind of visual metaphor is only possible because of the perfect interplay between lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. In that sense, “The Fear” feels almost theatrical and this track really does a lot to show off Apricity’s skils.

Apricity manages to capture vibes that strongly remind me of Evanescence (whom Apricity has been inspired by) and even some Linkin Park (think tracks like “New Divide” and “What I’ve Done”). By those two comparisons, I mean her sound has a certain edge and darkness to it that I find both familiar and relatable. You can keep up with Apricity through Instagram and her website as well as find her music on YouTube and Spotify. We have “The Fear” embedded below!
