Basil Babychan - The Yearning
Basil Babychan is an Indo-Dutch Neo-Classical music artist. Known for his excellent use of harmony, Babychan crafts dynamic compositions that blend modern orchestral and electronic themes, creating a rich and easily enjoyed sound. Today we are pleased to share our remarks on Basil Babychan’s track, “The Yearning”, from his acclaimed 2020 EP accidentally INCorporated.
“The Yearning” opens with just an electronic piano sound and builds on that initial melody, slowly generating something truly powerful. The track’s prevailing melody is one that encourages reflective thought and the instruments - in my opinion, especially the strings - really help drive that melody deep. I believe that “The Yearning” is a perfect title for this piece as it really captures a powerful sense of desire and longing; while listening, it felt to me like the kind of journey one’s mind embarks on while reflecting on their struggles while working towards a big long-term goal which is something that I personally relate to and I believe most people will as well.
