Blake Wharton is an American singer/songwriter. In addition to his music career, Wharton is also known for his time as a Motocross racer, so if his name sounds familiar but you have not heard his music before, there is a good chance it is from his exhilarating other career. Today we take a listen to Blake Wharton’s track, “The Sweetest Love” which was released on December 2nd, 2020.
As a whole, "The Sweetest Love" is a heartfelt, passionate and melodic song. An Indie/folk based instrumental track sets the song’s thematic elements up splendidly from the outset, utilizing acoustic instruments to really build up the vibe. Lyrically, the song clearly comes from a genuine place and the song’s catchy vocal melody really helps to accentuate the track’s meaning in a crisp, clear way. I really enjoyed the brief spoken-word part of the song at the 2:30 mark, further adding a touch of genuine emotion to the song. The track’s clean production really helps to round out the folksy elements in the instrumental track in a way that boosts Wharton’s voice brilliantly, really allowing the song to shine.
Through “The Sweetest Love”, we get to see the powerful songwriting capabilities of Blake Wharton. Wharton is a man who has lived a very interesting professional life and I believe his music is exceptionally noteworthy - and certainly worth checking out.
