Carolus - To the Fallen Sons
Carolus is a metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. With an excellent and aggressive approach to their music, Carolus has quite an impressive sound while their lyrics often focus on Swedish history - truly weaving some epic tales. Today we take a listen to “To the Fallen Sons”, the first song released by Carolus which debuted in the early summer of 2020.
“To the Fallen Sons” is a heavy metal song that takes on the topic of the Caroleans, soldiers who served the Swedish Kings Charles XI and Charles XII during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. The lyrics of the song paint this history beautifully while the vocal performance captures the pure epicness of this tale. Instrumentally, “To the Fallen Sons” also brings plenty of punch, with in-your-face percussion and stellar guitar work. Overall, this song is not just a history lesson - it is a melodic and epic metal track that guides the listener through an interesting piece of Swedish history.
Carolus really brings a lot of raw talent and musicianship to their music, creating a cohesive masterpiece in “To the Fallen Sons”. This track is the first of what I hope are many releases from this exciting band and I am definitely hoping to hear more soon.
