Friday Dies - Hammer Down
Friday Dies is a Classic Metal band from Wisconsin. At the center of Friday Dies is lead guitarist and vocalist Mark Friday who is a founding member of the group. After a lengthy period of inactivity, Friday Dies has returned to the scene and the band is ready to release new music to electrify their fans once again. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Friday Dies’ upcoming single, “Hammer Down”, from the upcoming album The Sky is The Ocean!
“Hammer Down” is a phenomenal and pulse-pounding Classic Metal track that is sure to keep you engaged for the entirety of its near six minute runtime. Leaning into that classic sound, the guitar work on the track borders on Blues-driven, utilizing the kind of choices earlier Metal bands like Black Sabbath would have, albeit with some more contemporary twists. The vocals are crunchy and powerful, providing the perfect amount and type of grit to bring the story within the lyrics to life; the lyrics tell a story of a king being overthrown and killed but it is truly a story of resilience and unification as men stand tall and continue to fight for what they believe in.
I feel like “Hammer Down” is a great teaser for the upcoming album The Sky is The Ocean in that it captures the heavy and gritty style that Friday Dies is known for while also showing a higher level of polish and growth through the years. While “Hammer Down” is the only piece of music I have heard from this project so far, I anticipate the entirety of The Sky is The Ocean will be absolutely thrilling. So, get excited!
