Hemisphere - Transmission
Hemisphere is a band that draws on many genres to create a blended and mash-up filled sound. Helmed by experienced multi-genre musician Rob Shinno, Hemisphere combines elements of rock, pop, jazz, fusion and metal and it is common to hear multiple genres performed in one song. Today we take a listen to “Transmission”, Hemisphere’s single from the recently released album American Dreams.
“Transmission” is a striking example of the ways in which Hemisphere blends multiple genres to create a textured and multilayered experience. Out of this world synth gives off similar vibes to the spacey futurism that was heavily prevalent throughout multiple genres of popular 80’s music; the vocals also sound something akin to 80’s music, with stellar melodic phrasing and harmonies that would sound right at home on 80’s radio. The song’s outro is extremely groovy and features a more jazzy vibe than the rest of the song, truly a testament to the way in which Hemisphere blends genres in their music. “Transmission” is the kind of song you will want to listen to many times to properly catch everything going on.
Hemisphere really is an interesting band that creates uniquely blended music that will keep you coming back for more; “Transmission” is no exception to this rule and served as a very appealing introduction for me to start listening to this band.
