Indie Soull - America
Indie Soull is the music experience of singer/songwriter and author Mutch Katsonga. Katsonga uses a very honest approach to his music, something that helps his music shine among contemporary artists. Today we take a listen to Indie Soull’s track, “America”, from the deluxe edition of Bridges County Welcomes You, an album written during quarantine/lockdown.
“America” is a folky country song full of passion and raw emotion. The instrumental portion of the track does an excellent job of setting the mood while the vocals really drive the emotional approach home. Vocally, a raspy-whisper approach is used during the verses which I found pleasantly distinctive and the approach definitely added feelings of both authenticity and ingenuity; the vocals in the track do an excellent job of drawing on traditional country music methods but also succeed in shining as something fresh and new as well. Lyrically, the track is very reflective and the use of imagery really helps the listener imagine the experience of searching for and remembering the “America” being sang about.
Indie Soull’s “America” manages to be both nostalgic and forward-thinking which makes it a timelessly relevant track. Mutch Katsonga puts his heart and soul into this track and it made me want to look up more of the Indie Soull music catalog - you should, too.
