James Henry - Watermelon Man

James Henry is a three time Grammy nominee, skilled percussionist and founder of the Hands on Fire band. Henry brings a lot of skill and experience to the table with his music and it certainly shows with each new release. Today we take a dive into James Henry’s popular single, the radio edit of his track “Watermelon Man”.

“Watermelon Man” sizzles and dazzles from the outset and once the track really hits its stride, we are treated to an in your face brass explosion. Utilizing a jazzy progression, this track shines in its instrumental melody, displaying an excellent mix of brass, bass and percussion elements - which shine both together and individually at different points during the song. Although the only lyrics sang throughout the song are “hey, watermelon man”, the cadence at which it is sang serves as a great hook.

Jazzy, spicy and full of life, “Watermelon Man” is an enjoyable track from start to finish; this track is sure to get you moving and keep you moving when you listen with how easy to dance to it is.
