Lp.Chance - Born in Atlantis w/Which Coast Interview

Lp. Chance is a Rap/Hip-Hop artist. An undeniable talent, this artist has a unique style that delivers some excellent, high quality songs. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Lp.Chance’s four-track EP, Born in Atlantis as well as a unique surprise!

Born in Atlantis kicks off with the infectiously catchy “Neptune’s Revenge II”. With a beat that will make you get up and move and vocals to match, this song also contains some genuine meaning in the lyrics making it an absolute powerhouse. Up next is “wonder” which features the talents of lexagates. Lp.Chance and lexagates’ vocals interplay well in this one and I was amazed by how quickly the song went by; it is a full-length two minutes and fifty seconds but it felt much shorter, making me think it would be a good one to play on repeat. There is a certain swagger exhibited in this song that gives it a very distinctive vibe as well.

“spf”, featuring CupidChanceXXIV, is the third track from the EP and it has the most heartfelt feel to it. This song is catchy but also has a pretty chill overall vibe, making it the kind of song you will want to bob your head to while focusing on the lyrics. “pink tornado I” closes out the EP and showcases Lp.Chance’s signature flow in a big way. A strong conclusion to this project, this song is one that has a smoothness to it that makes it immediately identifiable and extremely enjoyable, all the while showcasing Lp.Chance’s talent - both as a writer and performer - in a memorable way.

Now, let’s jump into our surprise: Lp.Chance is interviewing us with questions about his work on Born in Atlantis!

What artist would you say I remind you of?

No specific artist comes to mind - which I consider a good thing because it means you are doing something original and uniquely your own - but your lyrics definitely have a contemporary feel to them while your flow and delivery feel like a combination of a lot of different styles from the last 20 or so years, with your own unique spin.

Did this project make you wanna dance?

Yep! The beats are on-point and the flow is exceptional so I think that anyone who listens to these songs is going to want to dance. “Neptune’s Revenge II” especially gets the blood flowing.

What do you feel was missing?

I honestly don’t feel like anything was missing but I do wish the EP was a bit longer! Even though I feel like “pink tornado” ended the EP well, and it’s definitely a really good song that showcases your talent really well, I think another pulse-pumping banger more along the lines of “Neptune’s Revenge II” would have wrapped things up even better - though that’s definitely a bit biased on my part because that song was my favorite from the EP.

What's your favorite moment in the entire ep?

I know I’ve already mentioned it a lot but “Neptune’s Revenge II” comes out swinging, really setting the tone that something special is happening. The interplay between your vocals and lexagates in “wonder” stood as a close second and I think that collab worked out extremely well!

What surprised you the most?

I was surprised at how well composed all of your music was; as an Indie music blog we get a mixed bag sometimes and while we as a site can find the good in anything, it is refreshing to have someone genuinely talented with a small footprint and some truly exceptional songs come across our dashboard. Your music is genuine and well-delivered - keep up the good work, we hope to see you grow!

Bonus what do you think the the cover art???

I like it! It looks unique and matches the title of the EP very well. I don’t see a lot of artists use that shade of blue either so I would imagine it will stand out and catch someone’s eye if they’re scrolling through songs.

After all is said and done, I am very happy to have been able to experience this awesome project; Born in Atlantis really is a delightful experience. I also want to take the time to thank Lp.Chance for the unique experience in asking the Which Coast staff some questions instead of the way interviews normally go, it was definitely a treat! We have Born in Atlantis embedded below - make sure you check it out and send Lp.Chance some love!
