Miss Freddye is an American Blues artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Known as Pittsburgh’s “Lady Of The Blues", Miss Freddye is breathing new life into a genre that can trace its roots to the mid-1800’s, truly pushing that sound forward in an appealing and energizing way. Today we take a look at “Wade in the Water”, Miss Freddye’s latest offering.
“Wade in the Water” is an absolutely soulful and downright stirring track. Driven by Miss Freddye’s powerful voice and some notable Soul overtones, the track is a flat out display of skill; it is truly a tour of force. Stirring harmonies and a sublime backing track pave the way for Miss Freddye to do what she does best: steal the spotlight. What I love most about this track is that you can hear just where its roots are from while also getting a feel for how Miss Freddye is able to inject a fresh energy into her sound. Anyone who is a fan of genres like Soul and Blues will absolutely adore “Wade in the Water”.
Through “Wade in the Water”, we gain some enlightenment about Miss Freddye’s skillset and the way she is pushing an older genre towards the future.
