One Less Guest - Breeze

One Less Guest is a band from Duluth, Minnesota featuring a number of influences including jazz, rock and funk, which helps the group create a flavorful and unique sound. Their debut album is entitled Monochrome and today we have the privilege of checking out the second song on the album, “Breeze”, a song that strongly displays this band’s standout musical style.

“Breeze” is a jazzy track reminiscent of the kind of music that was popular and on the radio back in the 60’s, featuring a groovy bassline, percussion to match and silky smooth vocals. The violin portion of the track also stands out and does a perfect job of accenting the other components of the song before breaking out into a skillful solo later on in the track; this is followed by a brilliant guitar solo, which drives home the musical themes from the rest of the track and further shows us just how talented the musicians that make up One Less Guest are. “Breeze” is both eclectic and flavorful - it is a track full of life and is the kind of song you can listen to many times and still find something you did not notice initially.

Although I mentioned that “Breeze” reminds me of some of the more popular music from the 60’s, the song also has a fair bit of pop sensibility mixed with the kind of modern polish and finish to be expected from contemporary music. This beautifully constructed combination of both old and new is what gives One Less Guest a truly timeless sound that I personally find very easy to jam to. You can check out their website here and as always, we have “Breeze” embedded below!
