SIR-VERE - The Crazies
SIR-VERE is a four-piece band from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. Known for their fusion of Electronic Dance Music and Post Punk, this group performs live across the UK, dazzling audiences with their sound. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on SIR-VERE’s new EP, The Crazies.
The main focus of this EP is the titular single, “The Crazies”, which was originally from SIR-VERE’s Lovescape album. The first version of this song, the standard radio edit, kicks off the EP. I love how this song is able to feel so raw yet be intelligently layered; this really is a great example of how this band uses Punk influences - you really get that in the vocals and instrumentation - as well as the EDM elements with how danceable this song is. “All You Ever Do” is the second song on the EP and the only one that is not a version of “The Crazies”. This one has even stronger Electronic roots but captures so much Punk spirit that it left me quite impressed. I really love how addictively rhythmic this song is.
All four of the remaining tracks from the EP are different remixes of “The Crazies”, the first of which is the Vodzilla version. The Vodzilla version makes the vocals seem more Jim Morrison-esque than I realized in the original version while incorporating what I would consider Trance elements to great success. S-VAS’ version follows and its raw Drum & Bass sound is deeply infectious, bringing out a different kind of energy than most cuts of this song. Rory Hoy’s remix is up next, featuring a Rock approach with some Lo-Fi elements mixed in and it gives so much life. Rory Hoy’s work here also highlights the more Rock-inspired elements of the original song that you may have missed as well. The Sarosa remix closes out the EP and gives the song a Dance-Funk kind of vibe. I had a big smile on my face the whole time while listening to this version.
After listening to all of these versions of “The Crazies” (and the excellent “All You Ever Do”), it is easy to see the appeal of SIR-VERE’s music; sweet Punk/Post Punk sound and sensibility fused with Electronic Music is a brilliant match that makes this band’s music one-of-a-kind and deeply enjoyable.
