Eye’z - Sugar

Eye’z is a singer and pianist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Finding inspiration in artists such as Aaliyah, Johnny Mathis, Fats Waller, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers and Michael Jackson, Eye’z brings a lot of talent to the music that she creates. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Eye’z’ latest single, “Sugar”!

Short but sweet (pun intended), “Sugar” comes in at just one minute and eighteen seconds in length but leaves a powerful impression. Eye’z took a different approach than usual with this song, utilizing a beat from Oakland-based producer Joshua Numan and then writing the lyrics and melody to round the track out. I think this approach suited Eye’z well; her melodic choices work perfectly with the beat and you can tell extra emphasis was put on crafting the lyrics. Her fantastic singing voice is also a highlight, bringing her lyrics to life in a tender, emotive way.

I think that “Sugar” is a special song and I appreciate that Eye’z was willing to reach outside of her normal scope to create this song. The result definitely works well, leaving us with a memorable and enjoyable song. Make sure you check out Eye’z’ Linktree to keep up with what she is doing on her socials. We have the official music video for “Sugar” embedded below and you can find the song on other platforms here!
