AtleoN - À Deriva

Atleon (stylized AtleoN) is a Portuguese musician originally from Lisbon. Finding inspiration from instrumental rock, ambient and experimental music, AtleoN creates brilliant guitar-driven tracks. AtleoN derives his name from a mix of the words Atlantis and Lion, his name representing “the ferocity of pursuing your truest desires even when they are buried under our sea of doubts”. Today we take a look at “À Deriva”, AtleoN’s excellent single whose title means “Adrift” in English.

“À Deriva” is a guitar-driven instrumental track that sounds like an instrumental journey unfolding before you. The guitar during the intro sets the mood of the song extremely well. Once drums kick in, the guitar kicks in even harder, setting up a deeply atmospheric vibe that builds throughout the song’s duration. At the 2:33 mark, an incredible guitar solo begins and this serves as the emotional peak of the song; the solo is an in your face display of epic energy that builds on the atmosphere set up earlier in the song, really bringing all of the musical motifs home in one long moment that lasts for the majority of the rest of the song - it is truly an incredible ride.

“À Deriva” is an expertly written and performed guitar-driven track that showcases the incredible writing and performing skill of AtleoN. The song as a whole manages to captivate the imagination in a way that a lot of modern instrumental music fails to; as I said earlier, it feels like a journey unfolding before you and the atmospheric nature of the track really hits hard. You can check out the rest of AtleoN’s music on Spotify - including the rest of his album Submerso em Ti, which translates to “Submerged in You” in English. As always we have “À Deriva” embedded below for your listening pleasure!
