Bludgers - Dirty Laundry
Bludgers is a band formed in Champaign, Illinois. Taking their name from the Australian/New Zealand name for moochers, Bludgers has been releasing music since the 1990s and have previously opened for renowned acts like Uncle Tupelo and The Bottle Rockets. Today we dive into Bludgers’ single, “Dirty Laundry”, which is from their EP Bludgers Five.
“Dirty Laundry” hits a sweet spot between country and classic rock ‘n roll, displaying a lot of heart while traversing a multi-genre soundscape. The track features a creative chord progression that allows for the vocal melody to shine; it is in this vocal melody that the track really shows off its rich strength. Lyrically, the track plays like a story being told, speaking about "dirty money” and how it is metaphorically “dirty laundry”. When the guitar solo begins at about the 2:20 mark, the track really soars, hitting a high only equaled by the powerful vocal melody on display throughout the track.
Enough cannot be said about the high quality listening experience that you get from “Dirty Laundry”; from the first chord the track absolutely demands attention and succeeds in holding that attention as well. After listening, I believe that Bludgers really hit the mark with “Dirty Laundry” and the rest of the tracks on Bludgers Five.
