Brooke Josephson - Rainbow

Brooke Josephson is a pop singer/songwriter from Warsaw, Indiana who is currently based in Los Angeles, California. A multi-talented individual, Josephson has also pursued the dream of acting alongside her singing career, an experience that led to roles on shows like Bones and All My Children. Today we take a dive into Brooke Josephson’s latest single, “Rainbow”.

“Rainbow” is an upbeat and up-tempo pop rock song with a ton of high-quality melody work within. Well-produced and perfectly performed, the instrumental portion of the track shines alongside Josephson’s singing performance; it is through the vocal performance and vocal melody that this track really hits its finest point, though. Indeed, Josephson’s lyrics hit the spot and match the melody extremely well. Particularly unusual for a pop song - but much appreciated by fans of rock like myself - most of the track’s closing two minutes are made up of an incredibly powerful guitar solo, something that makes the song feel incredibly refreshing to me.

Honestly, “Rainbow” is a sneaky powerhouse of a song. At first, it seems like it is going to take a similar route to the kind of lite-rock that you hear everyday on the radio, and while you can still hear elements of that within, “Rainbow” has grit and edge to match its refined polish.
