Colossi of Memnon - MATHEMADTRIX
Colossi of Memnon is an instrumental duo from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada who base their sound around their electric guitar playing. Their debut song, “MATHEMADTRIX”, is a high-octane metal infused track which was released on July 18, 2020; the duo also produced a playthrough video for the song.
“MATHEMADTRIX” is a quick-paced and richly heavy song featuring exceptionally melodic metal guitar playing. I was left impressed with how brilliantly composed this piece was; the interplay between both guitars is expertly executed and the performance as a whole is a showcase of both of these guitarists’ exceptional talents. In terms of the playthrough video that Colossi of Memnon produced, I thoroughly enjoy the subversive nature of the guitarists playing heavy metal-infused music in a park on a peaceful day - that unexpected contrast certainly made me smile - but most of all I have a strong appreciation for how easy it is to follow along as they play as the camera stays trained on their guitars.
