Daniel Gall - Little Bird in the Trees

Daniel Gall is a composer who collaborates with different performers to produce interpretive dance videos. It is through these videos that Gall is able to express additional emotion and meaning while also showcasing the music he composes on a grander scale. Today our review covers the video for “Little Bird in the Trees”, which features dancer Sujelis Rincones performing an aerial dance.

“Little Bird in the Trees” is a brief song and video, coming in at roughly fifty seconds, but expresses quite a lot in its brief time. The flute work, provided by Miguel Vargas, is on-point and the somewhat hectic yet blissful nature of the melody is truly reminiscent of a bird darting around in a tree. By itself, “Little Bird in the Trees” is a captivating song but it is through the accompanying video that we can really appreciate it as a complete artistic work; Sujelis Rincones’ performance as the titular bird helps us understand and appreciate the joy and almost frolicky nature of the accompanying musical piece.

Truly, the way that “Little Bird in the Trees” comes together as a complete artistic piece is special. Of note is that this video is just one of three forest themed videos that Daniel Gall has produced with Rincones and Vargas. In addition, this piece is also part of a suite of seven flute pieces that Gall composed for a novel he is writing,Liberty and the Forest”, where one of the characters carries a book of forest melodies to play from.
