The Silent Boys - Last Time
The Silent Boys are an Indie Pop band with roots in the Richmond, Virginia music scene. Formed all the way back in 1986, this group has been quietly making music for over three decades and their years of experience shines through with each well-crafted release. Today we take a dive into The Silent Boys’ single, “Last Time”, from their album Tilt-A-Whirl.
“Last Time” is a melodic and memorable track. The lyrics are personable and quite relatable and the fact that The Silent Boys have been together for over thirty years helps the track’s definitive line, “this is the last time I’ll say goodbye to you” - and meaning as a whole - hit home very hard with its sense of finality. From a melodic standpoint, the vocals are excellent, further cementing the track’s meaning while also providing the glue with which to bind the song to people’s memories. “Last Time” is a deeply enjoyable track that succeeds in channeling similar sonic vibrancies to some legendary songs from groups like The Cure, The Pixies and Modern English.
Certainly one of the longest tenured groups we have covered, The Silent Boys offer up something truly unique with their music and they are definitely a group worth checking out.
