Davy Williamson - Same Place

Davy Williamson is a hard rock multi-instrumentalist from Wilmington, North Carolina. Williamson has experience aplenty as a musician and throughout all of the years and different bands he has been a part of, he has gained experience with many genres. We have previously covered Davy Williamson’s genre-splicing “Thin Disguise” and today we take a dive into another superb single, “Same Place”.

“Same Place” kicks off with a melodic acoustic guitar intro before popping into a more aggressive - and catchy - distorted electric guitar riff. Williamson’s vocal chops are on full display in this track, with the calmer verses and powerful chorus showing both range and diversity. Throughout “Same Place”, the guitar almost has a bouncy nature that really sets things up well for some entrancing vocal melodies, a combination that has stuck with me for the last few days as I prepared to write this review. From top to bottom, this is a track that I found immensely enjoyable; it is both one you can bang your head to and one you can lose yourself in.

For me, Davy Williamson is in some ways a difficult artist to pin down; his sound reminds me of heavier bands from the mid 2000’s but there is also something more that he brings to the table, something that traverses genres in a way that is uniquely his own. Be sure to keep up with Davy Williamson on Facebook and check out his website to learn more about this talented musician. Make sure to check out “Same Place” which is embedded below!
