Dejhare - Plead The Fifth
Dejhare, pronounced deɪ-Jhar is a pop music artist. A dreamer, Dejhare shares her life through her music, connecting with her listeners on a personal level, making her a unique artist. Today we are excited to share our review of Dejhare’s new five-track EP Plead The Fifth, which was released on July 23, 2021.
Plead The Fifth kicks off with “Take Five”, a track with kind of a mystifying sound that will immediately draw you in. This track shows the way in which Dejhare produces art with her music, creating a very distinctive soundscape. “Skeletons” comes next, providing a great deal of rhythmic pleasure derived from the way in which the vocal melody plays off of the track’s beat. Once we hit the chorus, “Skeletons” really hits its stride and it is sure to get stuck in your head; this track reminds me of 90’s club pop in some ways with a nostalgic kind of feel to it while still providing good energy and great vibes. “Perception” is the third track on Plead The Fifth and it slows things down a bit. The track starts slow, building up into something quite powerful by the end; I really enjoy the contrast between the beginning of the track and how it ends and this one is arranged brilliantly.
Fourth from Plead The Fifth is “Not Alone” and this is quite possibly my personal favorite from this EP. Dejhare takes this track’s melody and paints it across the sky, featuring wonderful interplay between the backing instrumental and vocals. Indeed, this is my favorite instrumental piece from the EP as well; it is not flashy by any means but serves its purpose incredibly well, really allowing the vocals - and lyrics - to shine bright. Closing out the EP is the title track, “Plead The Fifth”, which I believe ends the EP perfectly. A complete package, “Plead The Fifth” manages to stylistically highlight all of the strengths from this EP: a danceable beat, meaningful lyrics and a catchy vocal melody are all on display here, front and center.
I wholly believe that Dejhare is an exciting artist who offers something special through her music and Plead The Fifth is an excellent EP that showcases her talent in an extremely positive light. This artist is doing big things and you will definitely want to see what she does next. You can keep up with Dejhare through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and her website.
