Dixie Ziemba - Broken Glass w/Interview

Dixie Ziemba is a forty-four year old Pop singer/songwriter originally from the Philippines and currently based in Arizona. She began her career as a lounge singer at the age of seventeen before becoming a band vocalist at twenty-two. After a long break from music, this artist has returned and currently has more releases on the horizon. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Dixie Ziemba’s single “Broken Glass” as well as share our interview with this talented artist!

“Broken Glass” is a triumphant return to releasing original music for Dixie Ziemba. A personal and emotional song, “Broken Glass” is a story of heartbreak and Dixie shares tragically relatable message in an easy to digest package. Indeed, Dixie’s vocal performance is soft and tender, giving the track a richly appropriate level of energy to really drive the point home, all the while setting a deep, sad mood. This song was co-written by Andrew Hall as well as co-produced by Shane Matsumoto; both of their contributions help Dixie’s already bright star shine even brighter and I feel like recognizing their work on “Broken Glass” is an absolute necessity.

Now let’s jump into the interview!

How did you get your start in music? Who were some of your early influences?

I didn't choose music, I believe music chose me. I grew up in the slums area of the Philippines. No father in sight. I've met my father's family when I was 30.

Take us through your early career as a lounge singer and later band singer. How did those experiences have an effect on the music artist you are today?

Philippines is so much different than here in the United States, as you know there's no child labor laws there, I started working while I was young. Despite being with the Pear S Buck Foundation. It's the foundation that takes care of children like me. It wasn't enough so I had to work at an early stage and while at work, I was singing and someone noticed that I can sing. He was a famous composer but at that time he was retired. I joined his concerts some and started in lounge and piano bars and then moved to bands.

Music gave me the opportunities to be in different countries and learn other people's cultures. I've sang in Dubai, Japan and Indonesia.
I've learned a lot and moved myself out of the slums . I've learned about myself a lot. And how to read the room and people.

We listened to "Broken Glass" and really enjoy it. Can you shed some light on the inspiration for this song? What was it like working with Andrew Hall? Is there anything else you would like us to know about the song?

Broken Glass is about me. Falling in love with someone who is not who he says he is. Empty promises. A mirage.
But at the same time. I feel like I'm still hopeful.

working with Andrew Hall, it's very easy. He's a lovely man. It's so easy to talk to. It's kinda like he has a way to look at my mind and feelings, and he knows what I wanted to do, my vision for the song. We have a few more songs. As far as Shane Matsumoto who co produced the song with me. He served as sort of my mentor. I didn't have any experience with studio and he was so kind to give me tips and co direct the song with me. I was so lucky to have found him.

And thank you so much for loving/liking the song. It means so much to me.

What does the future hold for you and your music?

As of the moment, we have a few more projects with Andrew and Shane. We'll release that soon as well.

Is there anything else you'd like our readers to know about you or your music?

They can follow me on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or SoundCloud.
I am mostly on Facebook though. Broken Glass is out on all major platforms.

My music is all about my experiences that I want to share to the world. I'm hoping that it can inspire and relate to them.

Thank you so much for doing this.

Thank you!
