Hybrid Blues - Sunshine
Hybrid Blues is a New Zealand-based four-piece rock band. Fronted by award winning singer/songwriter Roy Hudson, the group was formed upon Hudson’s return to New Zealand following a thirty year stay in the United Kingdom. The band’s sound can most easily be summed up as being “hybrid blues”, hence the unique name for the band. Today we take a listen to “Sunshine” from Hybrid Blues self-titled album Hybrid Blues.
“Sunshine” is an smooth track that captures the essence of summertime sunshine and many of the emotions related with the season. Throughout the song, the instrumental portion of the track is light and airy, really setting up the summertime theme of the song well; the piano melody certainly helps to carry the song’s instrumental track, serving as an excellent hook that kept me drawn in throughout the track’s duration. Lyrically, the song unfolds like a story with expert use of imagery really allows the listener to picture the song’s words. Overall, “Sunshine” gives off great summertime vibes and would be well-received by any fans of that summertime rock feeling.
Hybrid Blues is a group that has an easygoing and enjoyable sound. The group mixes elements of country, blues, rock, folk, stoner and many other similar genres to create a feel good and easy listening experience and “Sunshine” is a shining example of the rich enjoyability Hybrid Blues brings to the music world.
