Laslow Simplex - Straw Men
Laslow Simplex is a singer/songwriter who draws his sound from genres such as folk-rock, country, jazz and Americana. Creating music since his childhood, Laslow Simplex has a wealth of experience in the music industry and sports the claim to fame - or lack thereof - as “LA's most unknown songwriter”. Today we take a listen to Laslow Simplex’s single, “Straw Men”, which provides commentary on the pending U.S. election.
“Straw Men” draws on some classic folk energy to deliver its message in a familiar and timeless manner. The track serves as commentary on the upcoming election and while directly commenting on straw men (and women) and the nature of perception versus reality when it comes to the spread of information in an election cycle. Laslow Simplex’s commentary was truly interesting and the choice to create this song with a folk vibe works brilliantly; I really enjoyed the way in which Laslow Simplex was able to take the folk genre and bend it to his needs in “Straw Men”, successfully putting his own spin on a classic genre.
Laslow Simplex writes some extremely intelligent songs that often have interesting and complex messages. “Straw Men” stands as a great example of Laslow Simplex’s expert songcrafting capabilities and definitely leaves the listener with some things to think about after listening.
