Jalen/So Universal - Not Again w/Interview
Jalen/So Universal is an upcoming hip-hop/rap artist from Philadelphia, PA who also infuses elements of conscious rap and R&B into his sound. The So Universal Entertainment project has shown a lot of growth and Jalen’s quick-hitting and epic bars are a big reason for that. Today we have the honor of sharing our brief interview with Jalen as well as our review of “Not Again”, his high energy single.
“Not Again” begins with some whistling synths and pretty quickly jumps into the vocals. Throughout the song, Jalen’s rap bars are incredibly quick hitting and energetic, full of excellent melodic choices that are incredibly enjoyable. The interplay between the song’s beat and Jalen’s vocals is otherworldly, fitting together in a ridiculously ear pleasing way and making the song feel like a complete package. Although the track only lasts two minutes and seven seconds, a lot is said and the song goes hard in a lot of exceptional ways; if you are a fan of quick-hitting bars then you will love this one.

What encouraged you to start making music?
Doing it around my friends and neighborhood. After awhile I decided to take it to the book.
Who are some of your musical influences? Do you feel like your music sounds like your influences or are you setting out to do something completely different?
I have a lot of influences , I plan to let my music stretch worldwide. Having it around for years to come.
Can you take me through your writing and recording process?
My writing process consist of many things to name a few is great focus and my mood has to be intact always.
We're taking a look at "Not Again" today. It's definitely a high-energy song overall. What kind of vibe were you going for? What's the song about?
I was going for a bouncy up tempo vibe giving the fans a diff feel from L.S.S
