John Lion - The Sun Is Up

John Lion is a singer-songwriter who is currently based in London. Lion is a veteran of London’s underground scene and is poised for his big breakout. We have previously taken a listen to John Lion’s spectacular track, “I Don’t Believe in Magic” and today we take a listen to his latest single, “The Sun Is Up”, which was released just a few days ago - in time for the summer solstice.

“The Sun Is Up” is an up-tempo track that reaches out and grabs your attention. The track’s lyrics are a call to get out of bed, go out into the world and make your dreams come true instead of waiting around for them to just happen to you - a powerful message and the kind of push people probably need right now as pandemic regulations are starting to peel back and we return to the world. John Lion’s vocals prowess is on full display here as he unleashes some fervent energy to match the track’s urgent tone. Truly, “The Sun Is Up” comes together as a complete piece of thematic art, making it a truly special song.

Last time I likened John Lion’s sound to the legendary band Oasis, and this time around, I was actually getting some Blur-ish vibes from “The Sun Is Up” which I thought was cool; clearly John Lion knows how to take what sounds good and adapt it to his own music, making the finished sound truly his own. Be sure to look out for artist updates from John Lion through Instagram and Facebook. We have “The Sun Is Up” embedded below via YouTube and be sure to check out John Lion’s music on Spotify as well - add him to your playlists!
