John Vento is a musician from the Pittsburgh music scene. Vento consistently hits us with excellent tracks that only resonate with our ears but also our hearts by pairing relatable lyrics with music that is easy to dance to. Vento is known for his work as the frontman of The Businessmen as well as Nied’s Hotel Band; when John is not fronting his other bands he is taking time to add to his solo career catalog. Today we are going to be taking a listen to his newest solo piece “Not your Kinda’ Man”.
“Not Your Kinda’ Man” begins with a classic kick and clap beat. John Vento’s vocals kick in and the song begins to sound like something you’d hear in a smoky Nashville theatre. This track displays an attitude that says “I am who I am and I will always be me, no matter what you want out of me.” The track’s groove is broken up by a brass instrumental break and comes right back into the blue-collar beat. This song’s lyrics are simply put with a timeless message and delivered by chorus that is an earworm for anyone who loves Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash.
To say John Vento is a musician who only covers one genre would be a disservice - this artist has a lot in his arsenal and “Not Your Kinda’ Man” is a sterling example of his skillset. In addition, the notion that John Vento isn’t willing to change any time soon really shows how spirited he is and this is something I find infectiously likeable.
