Lawson J - NYAS
Lawson J is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer who creates music with a unique blend of R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Latin and Soul. Lawson J first started with music in high school when he learned to play guitar and in 2017 started creating his excellent brand of synth music to entertain friends. We previously covered Lawson J’s impressive single, “Stay Together”, and today we are excited to take a listen to Lawson J’s latest single, “NYAS” which is short for “Not Yet a Star”.
“NYAS” only has about a two minute runtime but accomplishes a lot in that short time. Interestingly, “NYAS” was composed out of frustration regarding Lawson J’s music career; this track’s lyrics were inspired by nobody sharing his music despite the good feedback he has received and messages getting ignored - all because he is not famous enough to get that attention yet. The brutal honesty that Lawson J expresses in this track is something that you don’t quite see every day and it really adds a level of relatability to anyone who is putting work in but not getting the recognition they deserve.
Despite the lack of attention Lawson J sometimes gets, he is definitely a star on the rise; through “NYAS” we get to see frustrations channeled into an exceptional song and through both “NYAS” and “Stay Together”, we get a feel for Lawson J’s huge talent.
