Myrta - The Silver Swan

Martina Stoye, known by the pseudonym Myrta, is a musician and conductor from Dresden, Germany. Also a multi-instrumentalist and singer, Myrta’s music is distinctly her own, mixing classic with contemporary and transcending genre, creating rich and enjoyable soundscapes. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Myrta’s song, “The Silver Swan”!

“The Silver Swan” is a piano and vocals-driven song that expresses a wide range of emotion. Myrta uses a rather straightforward approach here, though the song’s lyrical content and vocals are more than enough to build a powerful atmosphere. Borrowing from the legendary madrigal by Orlando Gibbons, this modern interpretation is hauntingly beautiful, resonating with the listener in a way that is sure to stick with them long after the first time they listen.

I enjoy “The Silver Swan” and this song speaks well to the things that Myrta is trying to do: enrich classic works with a modern approach that allows you to interpret the works in a new light. You can keep up with Myrta through Facebook and Instagram. We have “The Silver Swan” embedded below via Spotify - take a listen!
