Nate Wilkinson - Better Days
Nate Wilkinson is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who also has features as a session musician in addition to his solo work. Wilkinson is an experienced artist who has released music as a member of a punk band as well as metal music in a previous solo project; these days he focuses on his current solo project, which features a “heavier mellow acoustic” approach. A new track from Wilkinson’s solo work is entitled “Better Days” and today we take a look at this wonderful track.
“Better Days” is a song that features acoustic guitar with some bass guitar and subdued but impactful drums. Lyrically, Nate Wilkinson takes us on a journey where he tries to find the titular “better days” that he longs for; it is in these lyrics that his metal influences show up the most, as Wilkinson narrates an epic journey - the kind that many metal artists sing about. Wilkinson’s excellent vocals stay subdued throughout most of the track which fits the overall mood and tempo very well, though during the bridge he definitely shows a good deal of ferocity, giving some insight into what his full vocal range may be.
Although “Better Days” is a more mellow track than you might expect from someone with the experience that Nate Wilkinson has, you can still hear the metal influences throughout the track which definitely gives it a unique flavor.
