Neoborn Caveman - Now I’m Free & You Were My Savior

We are back again today with our friend Neoborn Caveman. Neoborn Caveman is an artist we have covered before whose music covers many different themes across his unique and often varied musical soundscape. One thing that is true about all of Neoborn Caveman’s songs is that they are full of heart and passion, typically covering themes grounded in the reality of this world in a relatable way. Today we take a listen to Neoborn Caveman’s newest two songs, “Now I’m Free” and “You Were My Savior”.

“Now I’m Free” is one of those Neoborn Caveman songs that truly comes across as grounded in reality but has this deep spiritual feeling to it; his goal with this song was to “tell a sad but true story” in a way that is relatable so that his listeners grow through their pain instead of “turning to alcohol, drugs or nihilism in their pain” - truly a noble goal by this love-filled artist. The backing track is one of my favorites from Neoborn Caveman’s catalogue, featuring well-placed synths and beautiful bass and percussion choices. Vocally, “Now I’m Free” shows off Neoborn Caveman’s skills with melody and the way in which his vocal melody plays along with the backing track is incredible. All elements of “Now I’m Free” come together to make this a beautiful song, filled with honesty and Neoborn Caveman’s hope that this painful message will help others.

“You Were My Savior” is a song that feels like it would belong on an 80’s pop playlist - in a good way. Instrumentally, the track’s production feels reminiscent of that era of music in a good way that I truly enjoyed. In this song, Neoborn Caveman features some at times heavily produced vocals and that adds to the depth of the sound he was going for. The deeply layered lyrics in this song do an excellent job of showcasing Neoborn Caveman’s growth as an artist and storyteller while also presenting a message of “realization and letting go”, as he put it. I found the song to have deeply reflective vibes with a hint of nostalgia and Neoborn Caveman captures those feelings in a rewarding way. I agree with Neoborn Caveman’s self-assessment on this song as well: it certainly has shown his growth and depth as an artist and is hopefully a teaser of more to come!
