New Rules Duo - Sweet Child O Mine
New Rules Duo is a multiple award-winning music duo based in Cyprus. This group is comprised of singer Celia Stavri and guitarist/vocalist Dominik Dybka. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on New Rules Duo’s cover of the legendary Guns N’ Roses song, “Sweet Child O Mine”, taken from their album Road to Rendition!
This version of “Sweet Child O Mine” is stripped-down in comparison wit the original which immediately gives it a different feeling than the original. While this cover does not have the raw power of the Guns N’ Roses original, it has a massive amount of finesse which helps it to match the passion featured in the original; I especially found this to be true in the vocal performances, though it extends through the whole song. Indeed, the New Rules Duo version has some excellent layering that provide the texture to really bring this cover alive.
Regardless of if you are a fan of the original version of “Sweet Child O Mine”, I think you will enjoy this cover; it captures the spirit of the original while standing on its own as a special experience.
