Introducing BADiSUN!
BADiSUN is a music project from UK-based TJ Whiting that has emotion-driven songs that cannot be categorized into one genre. A highly experimental project, BADiSUN is capturing the kind of vibes that cutting-edge artists are using to take the industry by storm. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on BADiSUN’s 2022 singles, “Out of Luck”, “Bilingual” and “Roses”!
The genre-melding “Out of Luck” served as BADiSUN’s debut single and it I found myself specifically reminded of MGK’s mid-career music transformation with both how this song sounds and how it feels. Within this song are some brilliantly textured melodies and relatable lyrics, both of which will make you want to come back to this song many times after the first time you listen. What impressed me the most, though, is how BADiSUN understands how certain music is changing the landscape and how this song matches both how music is starting to sound and feel. Check it:
“Bilingual” is an absolute earworm of a song, brimming with infectious melody across all elements of the song. Indeed, both the vocals and instrumental are catchy and no matter what it is, some element of this song is destined to get stuck in your head.The fusion between Indie elements and 808 beats featured in this song feels right at home in today’s music landscape and I feel like this song is prepared to break down the door to music stardom for BADiSUN. “Roses” is probably my personal favorite of these three singles, set apart for me personally by the lyrics that I found to be especially relatable. I absolutely love the way this song flows and I think that it is an incredibly strong song that deserves radio and streaming play alongside some of today’s greatest. From both production and arranging perspectives, this song is doing some really unique things - for example, the vocal layering and way the backing vocals play into the song as a whole - and if you are seeking to make music similar to BADiSUN, this song could serve as a master class. I really enjoy these three singles - each had its own unique strengths and showed BADiSUN’s mastery of contemporary music - and I cannot wait to hear more from BADiSUN; this project’s debut album, BAD, is due out in September of 2023 and while that is several months away, the wait will be worth it!
