The Catalina - Love Somebody

The Catalina is a band from Minneapolis drawing their sound from traditional synth rock mixed with modern pop flavor. Today we have a special opportunity to check out their self-titled track “Love Somebody” - due out July 3rd - from their upcoming EP, Love Somebody

“Love Somebody” reminds me of something I’d hear at an 80s highschool dance. The instrumental track features a dreamy synth-pop sound and lyrically it is a romantic song about wanting to find someone to love and dance with. The lyrics seem to reflect the inner thoughts and feelings of a teenager longing for a significant other in an innocent way that reminds me of The Beach Boys. The song and music video have excellent production value that really takes you back to the music videos of the 80s with a modern twist that certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
