The Daily Spreadsheets - Learn to Fall
The Daily Spreadsheets is a one-man rock band based in Brazil and the project of music mastermind Henrique Neves. Neves has been a musician since the age of fourteen, finding inspiration in rock and roll including British Invasion, 90’s Britpop and American rock. Now at the age of forty, Neves has decided to begin releasing music from his home studio for the whole world to hear under the name The Daily Spreadsheets. Today we listen to The Daily Spreadsheets song, “Learn to Fall”.
“Learn to Fall” features vocal harmonies reminiscent of The Beatles and The Beach Boys with just a hint of R.E.M. mixed in to the overall performance; the vocals carry the song as a whole and the vocal harmonies add a great amount of variety and texture to the song. Instrumentally, the track is guitar-driven with a brief but stellar guitar solo kicking in and stealing the show starting at the 1:45 mark. With just a hint of a 90’s vibe mixed in, “Learn to Fall” is a brilliantly composed track that tastefully has many different melodic elements coming together to create a very ear-pleasing song; every time you listen, you will find something you did not notice before in either the instrumental or vocal portions of the track, a quality that is going to make you want to have this song on repeat.
When it comes down to it, “Learn to Fall” has a very strong classic rock feel to it, with roomy vocals and reverb-lite guitars capturing the essence and energy of some of the best 60’s rock and roll. You can really hear how Henrique Neves has taken his influences and tempered them into his own sound to create incredibly high quality and richly layered music with The Daily Spreadsheets.
