The Dead Bolts - What Gives
The Dead Bolts is a band from Chicago, Illinois. Gathering hundreds of hours of experience performing and recording their music, The Dead Bolts have begun to gain a strong foothold in the Midwest and could soon take the nation by storm. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on The Dead Bolts’ single, “What Gives”, from their upcoming album Pretty And Burnt Out which itself is due for release on November 26th!
“What Gives” is a catchy song that is easy to enjoy. Throughout the song, an acoustic and electric guitar pair in this song to create a layered strings section with the electric guitar providing a nice hook throughout the song before absolutely exploding during the song’s outro. The guitar work pairs well with the vocals to add a lot of high quality melody to this song. I hear a mixture of some of my favorite music in this song; it has a certain folk-type atmosphere but has some brilliant pop sensibilities in it that reminds me of acoustic-driven 90’s alt-pop so I found this song extremely enjoyable.
I think “What Gives” is a great teaser for things to come from The Dead Bolts and their upcoming album Pretty And Burnt Out which will release on November 26th; keep your eyes peeled for that as it will be released in just a few weeks!
