The Winter Project - Grounded
The Winter Project is a rock band from Boston. Featuring a sound that meshes post-emo with alt-rock, The Winter Project creates guitar-driven music of a transcendent nature that rings familiar with fans of those genres while still shining as its own unique sound. An example of the band expanding their sound further is their new single, “Grounded”, which is the third track released from their upcoming untitled album.
“Grounded” is an uplifting track that is a real treat to listen to. This track manages to be both soul-stirring and serene at the same time, providing a multilayered listening experience that just gets better every time you listen. You can still hear some of the hallmarks that The Winter Project is known for in “Grounded” but, uniquely, this track features a combination of more retro alt-rock (think a fusion between some 80’s and 90’s sounds) with what felt like folk overtones, making it something truly distinctive. “Grounded” walks the line between having a nostalgic and reflective nature while blending in feelings of hope and is truly enjoyable from start to finish.
Unafraid to experiment to push their sound further, The Winter Project is definitely an interesting band to follow. Through “Grounded”, we get a taste of what this band can do when they decide to reach out and broaden their musical horizons and it is a truly special song.
