An Introduction to Aurora
Aurora is an EDM/Lounge musician based in New York, NY and originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Formerly known as Xio, this experienced artist has released a great deal of music throughout her career, often incorporating various electronic elements into an electrifying pop sound, creating a sound that spans many genres. In addition to her music career, Aurora also acts and has had several lead roles in independent films.
While researching Aurora, I decided to focus in on her song “Heaven”, a track that Aurora wrote and partnered with Tony Coluccio for production. Uniquely, “Heaven” actually has two versions, both presenting a distinctive atmosphere. The original version of “Heaven” is the type of track I would expect to be bumping at the club, presenting a very easy to dance to groove with squeaky clean production; the beat and instrumental portion of the track are exceptional but overall this does not steal the show from Aurora’s exceptional and catchy vocals, which I find to be the highlight of this version. The other version of “Heaven” takes a dubstep approach and in this version, the backing track is the real star of the show; the song as a whole feels a bit more gritty while still holding on to the catchy nature of the original.
Overall, Aurora is an artist that I definitely have a lot of respect for; she is never afraid to try new things and consistently releases high quality music. You can check out all of Aurora’s music on Aurora’s website (http://1aurora.com/) where she also has a list of all of her socials and we have both versions of “Heaven” embedded below! I recommend checking out both versions for yourself to decide which is your favorite!
