Damien Knight - Falling Colours

Damien Knight is a music artist who experiments with a variety of genres and has released tracks spanning dancehall/pop, Latin and hip-hop/rap. Knight definitely finds a way to keep things fresh and interesting throughout his exploration of many genres. His latest release, Falling Colours, is a two-track EP released on May 21st, 2020 that focuses more on an R&B style.

Falling Colours kicks off with “Welcome to the Ride”, a track with a strong groove and a dreamy landscape. This song is an introduction to Knight’s writing skills as well as the emotional depth he puts behind every word he sings. Contrasting to the first track, “Two Knights” sounds like it belongs in a montage scene from an action movie; its high energy, strong beat, and skillful production giving it an enthralling feeling of epicness while still continuing the melodic themes from “Welcome to the Ride”; it is still a heartfelt track, just in a different and very appealing way. Throughout both of the tracks, we get a real sense for Knight’s talent as an artist; he has a very poetic approach to his lyrics which he combines with a very passionate vocal delivery and the catchy beats and excellent production give the tracks a lot of staying power.

When discussing Falling Colours, Damien Knight mentioned that he “wanted to portray a dark melodic atmosphere” and his passion and master artistry helped him achieve that goal on this EP; Knight has said that he wrote these songs in a hotel room shortly after a break up and you can tell he really puts his soul into both of these tracks. I found one of Knight’s statements about this EP particularly compelling: “I want the listeners to know that it is okay if life puts them on a ride, sometimes people need to experience that to find some of the most beautiful things in life”. I think this message is a very positive one and Falling Colours does a good job at conveying the pain Knight went through while also showing us that good things can come out of the bad: this EP being a great example of pain and sorrow turned into magnificent art.

Lastly, I just wanna say look out for Damien Knight and his team members, ACTHEKiDFROMSPACE and G-LUCID as TKFS. The Kids From Space are capturing the attention of many with captivating sounds! You can check out Falling Colours below and you can check out Damien Knight’s Instagram here!
