Darrell Kelley - Ahmaud

Darrell Kelley is a singer songwriter and social activist from Boston, Massachusetts. “Ahmaud” is a new single from Kelley, uploaded to YouTube on May 18, 2020. The track takes us through the tragic events surrounding the death of Ahmaud Arbery and the injustices of racism in America.

From the outset, it’s clear that Darrell Kelley is here to make a statement with his dedication of the song to those who have been unjustly killed due to the color of their skin. Throughout the song, you can hear the pain and passion in Kelley’s voice as he outlines the murder of Ahmaud Arbery and the injustices black Americans have to deal with; this pain, along with Kelley’s vocal skills are on full display during the powerful, harmonious chorus. “Ahmaud” is a song with a strong message behind it and if the lyrics don't drive a sense of pain, sadness and frustration into your heart, you will feel it through Kelley’s vocals.

Overall, “Ahmaud” is a beautiful song that needs to be heard by more people; sadly with the recent murder of George Floyd, songs like this are profoundly relevant and needed now more than ever.
