“Deserve Better” is a song with a lot of layers that come together to create a very cohesive sound. A clean instrumental track featuring bouncy bass and percussion paves the way for the vocals to take the spotlight. The vocals also have high production value which fits the mood presented by the instrumental track very well; it also suits the lyrics. Lyrically, the track features an empowering message for women, stating “you deserve better” many times throughout the track while gushing about how amazing the women sang about are.
Dj Deadly’s goal when writing “Deserve Better” was to show appreciation for all of the women in our lives: grandmothers, mothers, wives - all of them. I think Dj Deadly accomplished this goal in a deeply empowering way and the track opened my eyes to Dj Deadly’s brilliant skills.
