Jeff Michaels Band - Annie
Jeff Michaels is a singer/songwriter who has lived in Boston and San Francisco who specializes in piano rock/Americana music. The Jeff Michaels Band released their latest album, Better When I’m Older in January of 2020 and this article features “Annie”, the lead track from that album.
“Annie” is a folk-inspired slow rock ballad from start to finish, showing off many instruments including a mix of acoustic and electric guitars, piano, bass, and various percussion. The vocals in the track sound very heavily classic rock-inspired and the lyrics are gritty and do a good job of telling a story. “Annie” features very intelligently written parts showcasing great musicianship across all of the instruments involved; it’s a great song to listen to more than once just to listen to what each individual instrument is doing throughout the song.
