RAMONA + the RIOT - 2020
Ramona + the Riot (typically stylized as RAMONA + the RIOT) is a dynamic band centered around their vocalist, Ramona. Indeed, Ramona’s vocals are absolutely show-stopping and stunning, while the band’s sound shines radiantly in working alongside her singing skills. Today we dive into Ramona + the Riot’s single, “2020”, from their upcoming album Law of Contagion.
“2020” is a reflective and emotional track that puts Ramona’s vocals into the spotlight. Throughout the track, the listener is presented with a great deal of passion from Ramona’s vocals. Something that makes this song great is as Ramona’s voice builds, so does the music and the way in which the instrumental portion of the song complements Ramona’s vocals is a real treat to experience, giving the song multiple defining moments of raw emotion. In the end, “2020” is a deeply soulful song that expresses a great deal of loss in an easy to relate to yet distinctive way and I found it to be exceptionally moving.
Through their song “2020”, we are introduced to RAMONA + the RIOT’s music in a strong way that definitely encouraged me to take a listen to some of their other work.
