The Lou Baxter Project - The Ballad of Betty Short

The Lou Baxter Project is a soul-filled retro-rock band. For this project, Lou Baxter partners with musicians he met in Germany to collaborate over the web. We have previously checked out two songs from this project, “All-In On Love” and “Mothership” and today we are excited to check out yet another single from The Lou Baxter Project, “The Ballad of Betty Short”!

“The Ballad of Betty Short” serves as an adaptation of the story of Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Short who was murdered in January 1947. Taking on a folk-inspired sound, this track’s storytelling approach is both engaging and enjoyable. The backing instrumental is tight, providing an energy that perfectly melds with the emotions of the vocals. I think the track’s basis in reality helps to make this sound stand out from the rest; that said, it simply being a track from The Lou Baxter Project also accomplishes this - this group truly offers something special with every release.

Despite existing for less than a year, The Lou Baxter Project has released eleven songs already - each one its own unique experience - and I cannot wait until this group releases even more material. Make sure that you keep up with The Lou Baxter Project’s website and Facebook to learn more and you can find links to all of their music here. We have “The Ballad of Betty Short” embedded below!
